Hiking

The Tahoe area offers thousands of miles of hiking trails, with unparalleled views and for all levels of hikers, including your four-legged friends. Many trails are mixed-use, so be sure to watch out for mountain bikers and horseback riders as well. Early in the spring and summer, you can find gorgeous waterfalls rushing after the snowmelt, and later in the fall enjoy the changing colors of the Aspens against the bright blues of Lake Tahoe. Make sure to check weather reports before you head out, as it can change very quickly in the alpine environment, and always pack plenty of water and extra snacks in case your trip takes longer than anticipated. Check out AllTrails for descriptions of hikes, as well as pictures and ratings from users.
